Keeping our communities safer, connected and informedDear Members, We hope you are keeping well and enjoying the summer. It has been a busy few months across St Albans City & District, so we wanted to share some highlights, useful information and a look at what’s coming next. There are also several ways to get involved in your local community – we would love to hear from you! 🛡️ Cybercrime & Fraud AwarenessOur recent Cybercrime Seminar and Workshop was very well received. The session provided practical information about online scams, fraud and cybercrime, helping residents understand some of the risks we face online and the simple steps we can take to better protect ourselves. One of the key messages is to remain alert when you receive an unexpected call, message or request involving your money or personal information. Fraudsters may pretend to be from your bank or the Police. Be particularly cautious if someone asks for your PIN, password, bank card or cash, asks you to purchase high-value goods, or tells you that a courier will collect money, cards or valuables from you. ⚠️ RememberPolice and bank officials will NEVER ask you to hand over your PIN numbers, bank cards, goods or money. 📎 We have attached below Hertfordshire Constabulary – Stop! Please take a few minutes to read it, keep it somewhere useful and share the advice with family, friends and neighbours. 💚 Health & WellbeingOur Community Wellbeing sessions have continued, sharing practical guidance around exercise, nutrition, hydration and looking after our general wellbeing. As well as providing useful information, the sessions offer an opportunity for residents to meet, socialise and connect with others in the community. Visit AGM Centre for information about its activities and to join its newsletter: 🚓 Community Safety & ASBWe were pleased to welcome our local Police for a session focusing on anti-social behaviour (ASB) and community safety. Residents had the opportunity to hear directly from the Police about local issues, crime prevention and ways we can all play a part in keeping our communities safer. 🔗 what to do…Neighbourhood Watch has further information and advice about anti-social behaviour: https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/asb 💻 Coming Up – Safer St Albans AcademyOne online session every monthWe are pleased to be developing our 12-month online programme – Safer St Albans Academy. Each month we will be bringing you an online session covering useful topics around safety, awareness and wellbeing. We particularly need coordinators in:📍 Verulam You don’t need to be an expert. We are looking for people who care about where they live and would like to help keep neighbours connected, informed and aware. Even a small amount of your time can help make a difference locally. 👉 Interested?
