Speeding Operation - Thorne and Moorends

Over the past week we have conducted a number of speeding operations in and around Thorne and Moorends following speeding concerns from residents who attend our regular community engagement meetings.

We take speeding concerns seriously and when time allows, focus on those areas alongside attending our regular hotspots.

On Grange Road in Moorends 43 vehicles were monitored, 1 driver was dealt with for contravening the speed limit and a further 2 were advised.

On Union Road in Thorne a further 15 vehicles were monitored, on this occasion, no drivers contravened the speed limit.

On Plantation Road in Thorne, 34 vehicles were monitored, 1 driver was dealt with for contravening the speed limit.

We were made aware that our speeding operations were being advertised on social media pre-warning drivers of our presence.

Please think twice before sharing the locations of our speeding operations. These checks are carried out to reduce speeding, prevent collisions and keep everyone using our roads safe.

Sharing locations only helps drivers avoid enforcement rather than encouraging safer driving.
