🚜🐑 Rural Crime Team Weekly Update 🐑🚜

Here's a snapshot of some of the work carried out by the Rural Crime Team this week across Dorset:

✅ Wildlife Crime Outcome A 45-year-old man has been sentenced after being found guilty of destroying four bat roosts. The court imposed fines totalling £1,200 (£300 per roost) and ordered a £500 contribution to the Bat Conservation Trust. Protected species and their habitats play a vital role in our rural environment, and offences of this nature are taken seriously.

✅ Weapons Seizure Officers executed a search warrant at garages in the North Dorset area, resulting in the seizure of a number of weapons. Enquiries remain ongoing.

✅ Anti-Poaching Activity Targeted patrols have been conducted in the Crossways and Moreton areas following concerns relating to deer poaching. Additional late-night mobile patrols have also taken place across North Dorset to deter and disrupt poaching activity.

✅ Protecting Farmland A Community Resolution was issued to an offender responsible for criminal damage after driving through agricultural fields, causing damage to land.

✅ Community Engagement We have continued to engage with local communities through Rural Crime contact points at: 📍 Holme for Gardens, Wareham 📍 Dike & Son, Stalbridge
