Dear Resident School Streets – Highfield Crescent (including Ward Avenue and Abbey Road) On behalf of the school, Humberside police and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, would like to thank everyone who has adhered to the restriction as part of the School Street scheme. Since the launch, your support and willingness to help make a difference sine November 2022 has already seen a huge positive improvement to the roads leading to the school.
Please continue to adhere to the timed restrictions between 8:15-9:15am and 2:45-3:45pm daily, during term time. The fewer vehicles moving within the School Streets zone during the restricted times in the mornings and afternoons, the more of a positive impact the scheme will have on those accessing the school and the surrounding environment. Therefore, we ask you to continue to plan your journey with this in mind.
If any permitted or exempt vehicle must travel along the road during the restriction, we ask that the voluntary speed limit of max 5mph is adhered to. With the street less congested and slower speeds, there is the possibility of more cyclists/scooter riders migrating on to the road.
If anyone, including visitors, need to park outside of the School Streets zone, while the restriction is in force, we would like to remind drivers to continue to utilise the park and stride venue in the first instance at Bilton Village Hall, Main Road, however if drivers choose to park elsewhere, please make sure this is done considerately to the access needs of residents or businesses and does not cause any obstruction to either the footpath, driveways or carriageway as enforcement action could be applied if relevant.
