π£ WANTAGE & GROVE NHPT π£
Following reports of suspected drug dealing in alleyways around the town, we decided it was time to bring in some specialist help.
On 30/08, we were joined by two police dogs and their handler: πβπ¦Ί Aggie, a gorgeous Sprocker Spaniel, and πβπ¦Ί Onyx, a German Shepherd who is quite accurately described as a land shark. π¦π The trio patrolled several alleyways, putting their noses to work and making it very clear that Wantage & Grove NHPT were keeping an eye on things.
Later that day, officers spotted a male suspected of dealing drugs. As he was being detained, he decided he'd rather not be detained and promptly ran off.
π¬ CUE THE HOT FUZZ SCENE... What followed was one male garden hopping across Wantage, with PC Oldroyd reluctantly following behind. The chase eventually burst straight through the middle of a local cricket match. ππ
To everyone at the cricket club who witnessed this spectacle, PC Oldroyd would like it noted that he had already been chasing the male for some time and was therefore slowing down due to fatigue............Apparently. That's his excuse, anyway. π
πΈ To make matters worse, the entire comedy sketch was captured by an amateur photographer at the cricket club. Honestly, all that was missing was the Benny Hill theme tune. πΆπ
The male was eventually located hiding behind a shed and arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
So, in summary: two police dogs, a drug arrest, a garden-hopping foot chase, an unexpected interruption to a cricket match, and photographic evidence of PC Oldroyd's athletic performance.
The male wasn't playing cricket...π But as they say... it's all for the greater good! ππ
