Trentham and Hanford - New Neighbourhood Watch Zone launched, E-scooter concerns, school parking, patrol updates and Police Street Surgeries |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you all are having a good week.
Firstly, a warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last few days. There are now 1551 residents that are now registered to receive these emails in the Trentham and Hanford area. Lets keep it going!
I’ve had a busy few days and plenty to update you on.
New Neighbourhood Watch Zone
I am very happy to report that a new Neighbourhood Watch Zone, that I applied for earlier this week, has been approved. We are making really good progress with Neighbourhood Watch as this is the 14th Zone I have been able to create so far, which covers 57 streets. This is a map of where the zone will cover and the streets it incorporates…
The zone is called ‘Trentley Rd, Allerton Rd, Malvern Cl, Cranbrook Cl, The Meadows, Perthy Gr, Churchill Way, Churchill Ave Neighbourhood Watch’.
Next week I will be aiming to commence delivering the welcome packs to all addresses within the new zone.
If you would like to add your address to this or any of the other Neighbourhood Watch Zones, you can do so by visiting www.ourwatch.org.uk
Would you like to be a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator?
At present, I am listed as the co-ordinator for all of the zones I have created. Ideally, we would like to find residents living within the zones, who would like to become co-ordinators. As a co-ordinator, you can help your zones to grow, for example, by assisting anyone living in your area or moving into the area, in making them aware of the zones and how to add their address to them.
If you think this might be something you would like to do, or if you have any other questions, please reply to this message and I will be in touch – thank you.
Back to School
On 02/09/26 I was present on The Lea at the end of the school day at Ash Green Academy, to say hello to everyone.
I am really hoping for a positive year with regards to the parking around our schools. Please..
*Adhere to the parking restrictions in place – (they are there to keep children and their families safe). *Do not park on or too close to junctions - as this creates visibility obstructions. *Do not park or stop on the Yellow zig zags. *Do not pick up or collect from Meadowside. Meadowside is a very small cul-de-sac, and vehicles u-turning and parking here can create a dangerous environment for children and their families.
Please also be mindful re double parking along The Lea, as I did spot that the road did become congested and there was some difficulty in vehicles getting through.
Patrols
On 02/09/26 I attended the A34 (near to the mausoleum) to look into concerns raised about vehicles not stopping for the red light.
During this patrol there was a low footfall – but I will return in the very near future.
I completed a patrol of the path from A34 to Bainbridge Rd and was happy to report that I came across no issues.
On 03/09/26 following concerns raised of vehicles blocking the pavement along the A34/Stone Rd, I completed a letter drop to addresses to highlight these concerns to residents.
We have also had concerns raised regarding speeding along Meadow Lane. I have passed on the concerns to all members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Please report speeding via 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (emergency). Even if you have no specific vehicle details, your reports help to highlight where our issues are occurring, along with key dates and times, which will assist future patrols.
E-scooters
I have had a number of residents report to me their concerns regarding E-scooters in the area. The concerns are largely that children are using them on the road, creating concerns that an accident may happen. Last night (03/09/26) there were two boys aged 13/14 approx, both wearing helmets, travelling along Burrington Dr, both on the road, with one in particular riding in a dangerous manner.
I have been completing recent work around E-scooters, which has included patrolling locations, such as Constance Ave (where E-scooter concerns were raised) stopping riders and completing home visits.
Please note that the E-scooters you own can only be used on private land (such as a garden) with the owner’s permission. If your child has an E-scooter, please do not let them ride on the pavement/road etc. There is guidance about E-scooters/E-bikes that can be found on the Staffordshire Police website Advice on e-scooter usage | Staffordshire Police
Bereavement Group
On 02/09/2026 I visited the Bereavement Café, who meet on Wednesdays, 11:45 – 13:00 at the Trentham Parish Church. It’s a great place to have a chat, make friends and there is always a hot drink ready for you.
Thank you again for the invite, and I look forward to re-attending very soon.
We Knocked To Check You Locked
On 02/09/26 I completed crime prevention visits at Wymondley Gr.
Fantastic work by residents and members of the Hanford Village Residents Association.
A special mention has to be given to residents and members of the Hanford Village Residents Association, who have worked incredibly hard, in cutting grass and tidying this large piece of land near to the Hanford roundabout. It looks great! Well done to you all and thank you!
Police Street Surgeries
This week I have completed Street Surgeries at Werburgh Dr, Kara Pl, Briarbank Cl, and Leverson Rd.
TONIGHT (04/09/26) there will be a street surgery at Gosport Grove 18:45 -19:00
TOMORROW (05/09/26) there will be a street surgery at Goodwick Pl 18:45 -19:00
Next week…
10/09/26 Maitland Grove 13:00 – 13:15
11/09/26 Bainbridge Rd 13:00 – 13:15
12/09/26 Renfrew Pl 13:00 – 13:15
13/09/26 Constance Ave (opposite Shillingford Dr) 15:00 – 15:15
14/09/26 Newhaven Gr 18:45 – 19:00
15/09/26 Meadow Ln 18:-45 -19:00
16/09/26 A34/Stone Rd (opposite Danehill Gr)
***If I do not attend a surgery, it will very likely be due to me being sent to or coming across an incident. Any that I miss will be re-arranged at the earliest opportunity**
