I wanted to provide an update regarding the theft of motor vehicles, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. 📢 Muswell Hill SNT Crime Update 🚔

Please find below a brief overview of reported incidents within the Muswell Hill area during the above period:
🔹 Domestic ABH - Muswell Hill Area
• Currently under investigation.
🔹 Common Assault & Battery - Queens Avenue
• Altercation reported between neighbours at an HMO property.
🔹 Robbery - Muswell Hill Broadway
• Currently under investigation.
🔹 Sexual Assault (Male Victim) - Muswell Hill Broadway
• Currently under investigation.
🔹 Theft From Motor Vehicle x2 - Woodside Avenue & Hillfield Park
• Currently under investigation.
🔹 Theft From Motor Vehicle - Grand Avenue
• Front number plate stolen by an unknown suspect.
🔹 Shoplifting x6 - Muswell Hill Broadway
Reported thefts include:
👜 Bags and wallets valued at £230
👜 Bags valued at £1,000
👔 Men's clothing valued at £200
👕 Clothing valued at £600
👜 Bag valued at £52
🥗 Health food products valued at £65
🔹 Theft Other - Athenaeum Place
• Commercial waste bin stolen.
🔹 Theft of Motor Vehicle - Cranley Gardens
🚗 Vehicle stolen overnight between 8:00pm and 6:00am by unknown suspects.
🔹 Unauthorised Taking of a Pedal Cycle - Wood Lane
🚲 Bicycle stolen by an unknown suspect whilst locked and left unattended for approximately three hours.
🔹 Unlawful Importation of a Controlled Drug - Muswell Hill Area

✅ Remove valuables from your vehicle.
✅ Park in well-lit areas where possible.
✅ Always lock doors and close windows fully.
✅ Consider steering wheel locks, trackers, and CCTV coverage.
🚲 Cycle Security
✅ Use a high-quality Sold Secure-rated lock.
✅ Secure both the frame and wheels to a fixed object.
✅ Register your bicycle on a property marking database.
✅ Avoid leaving bicycles unattended for extended periods.
🏠 Personal Safety & Robbery Prevention
✅ Stay aware of your surroundings, particularly when using mobile phones in public.
✅ Keep bags and valuables secure and out of sight.
✅ Report suspicious behaviour immediately.
🛍️ Retail Crime Prevention
✅ Businesses should ensure CCTV systems are operational and regularly monitored.
✅ Staff should remain vigilant and report repeat offenders promptly.
✅ Suspicious activity should be reported at the earliest opportunity.

 We know that people can be concerned about the personal and financial impact of having their vehicle stolen, which is why we will pursue and arrest those who break the law. Please consider taking the following steps to keep your vehicle safe: Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked. Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door. If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when its not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months. Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you don’t have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space. Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme. Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others.
