Community Safety Advice: Darker Evenings

As daylight hours reduce and evenings become darker, residents are encouraged to take extra precautions to reduce the risk of crime and improve personal safety.

Ensure your home appears occupied when out by using timer-controlled lighting.

Double-check that doors, windows and sheds are secure.

Remove valuables from vehicles and lock them securely.

Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.

Take care when walking at night and make yourself visible to road users by wearing reflective clothing or carrying a torch.

Remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour promptly.

By taking a few simple precautions, we can all help make our neighbourhoods safer during the autumn and winter months.
