Hillingdon Volunteer Police Cadets! Good Work!

Retailer Responsibility! 

Over the Notting Hill Carnival weekend, Hillingdon Police Cadets worked alongside local Neighbourhood Officers to carry out test purchasing operations across the borough.

The operation identified retailers failing to comply with age-restricted sales legislation, with two of the Police Cadets (aged 14)  being able to successfully purchase a knife and alcohol. 

Retailers who fall foul of the law by selling age-restricted products to underage customers could face prosecution, fines and other enforcement action.  The message is clear; check, challenge and refuse the sale if you unsure of a customer's age! 

This serves as a strong reminder to retailers that protecting our young people and keeping our communities safe is everyone's responsibility.
