Reading Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team Update🚓

Over the past couple of weeks, your Reading Town Centre Neighbourhood Team has been busy tackling crime, safeguarding vulnerable people and working alongside partners to keep our communities safe.

Officers have carried out a range of enforcement activity across the town, including executing a drugs warrant at a residential address, issuing Community Resolutions for drug possession, arresting a suspect in connection with an assault on a female in Reading town centre, and assisting local security staff with shoplifting and assault incidents which resulted in multiple arrests being made.

We have supported colleagues in locating and safeguarding multiple high-risk missing people, ensuring vulnerable individuals receive the help and support they need.

We have also continued to investigate offences in and around the town centre through CCTV enquiries, obtaining witness statements and pursuing further lines of enquiry to identify offenders and bring them to justice.

During Reading Festival, officers worked alongside British Transport Police, Police Dog Units and plain-clothes officers, carrying out proactive patrols, engaging with festival-goers and conducting stop searches.

The team were also deployed at Reading Pride to help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for those attending.

Alongside this work, officers have continued high-visibility foot patrols throughout Reading and have been working closely with local pubs, bars and clubs to support a safe and vibrant night-time economy.
