Rochdale Town Centre patrols

Throughout this evening, officers from Rochdale Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting high-visibility patrols across Rochdale Town Centre.

During these patrols, officers engaged with commuters, local businesses, and young people within the town centre. You will continue to see officers carrying out proactive patrols in the area as part of our ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour, particularly following recent reports and concerns raised by the community.

During the patrols, officers stopped and searched a group of young people following a report that youths had allegedly been seen in possession of a bladed article. A thorough search was conducted, and fortunately no weapons were found. The group was spoken to, offered advice, and subsequently left the area.

Later in the day, officers conducted a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search at Church Stile/Broadfield Park after encountering a group of youths preparing what appeared to be a cannabis joint. A quantity of the Class B drug was seized by officers.

These patrols are carried out to ensure that everyone feels safe when visiting the town centre, whether for work, shopping, or accessing local amenities. We remain committed to keeping our communities safe and addressing issues that matter to local residents.
