Burbage Police. Do You Keep Tools In Vans? Inspector Update Regarding Burglary Arrests.

We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week. 

Reported Crime and Appeals

Since our last update on the 2nd of September, we have received 32 calls to Police which includes 6 emergency calls and 6 priority calls. These calls were made up of violence against a person, transport related calls and other concerns such as concerns for safety. 

At the time of writing, there have been no further reports of vehicle crime or residential burglary, which is good news. We continue to ask residents to remain vigilant and call Police immediately if you see a crime in progress or suspicious activity in the area. 

Call received regarding suspicious person jumping fence near Carpenters Close at 20:45 on the 6th, officers attended and completed an area search, no trace. No crime reported at this time. If you have any information regarding this incident, please pop me an email. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

Following patrols in the area, officers seized a vehicle from Cotes Road for no insurance. 

Other work this week includes ongoing neighbour disputes, drug related concerns and pro-active crime reduction work. 

We have spent time this week completing some pro-active work around residents that keep tools in vans. As part of operation Generator, we are looking to support individuals and business owners in the prevention of theft from vans. Part of this work includes offering items such as UV marker pens, SmartTrace packs, and other support in preventing crime and re-uniting items with residents should they be victim of this type of crime. Patrols in areas such as Lutterworth Road, Three Pots estate, Hawthorn Crescent and Sapcote Road area. 

This weeks update from Inspector Neil Whittle at Hinckley.

“Following a recent court hearing, a bail application submitted on behalf of two local offenders, suspected of being responsible for a number of burglaries in the Hinckley and Burbage area, has been rejected. Both individuals remain in custody and are due to appear before the court again at the end of this month.

Since their arrest and remand into custody, we have seen a significant reduction in burglary offences across Hinckley, which is encouraging news for our communities and reflects the positive impact of the investigation and subsequent arrests.

Unfortunately, we are now experiencing an increase in vehicle thefts in the Market Bosworth and Desford areas. In many cases, offenders are targeting residential properties during the early hours of the morning, breaking into homes to steal car keys before taking vehicles from driveways.

In response, CID has established a dedicated team to oversee investigations into this offending. Additional resources from Force Headquarters will also be deployed to conduct overnight patrols, alongside increased patrol activity from local neighbourhood officers during the key risk periods.

I would ask all residents to remain vigilant and ensure vehicle keys are kept secure and out of sight. If you witness any suspicious activity, particularly between midnight and 5:00am, please report it to us immediately. The information you provide could be vital in helping us identify and apprehend those responsible.”

 

Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

We completed our “Darker Nights” crime reduction event on Sunday. This event was organised to support residents and raise awareness regarding risks of residential burglary and vehicle crime throughout the winter, when these types of crime can increase. We had lots of good productive discussions with residents and as always, a pleasure. Hopefully the work done throughout the year alongside these types of events, can support locals and reduce crime.
