Dear Residents,

I hope everyone is well and getting some relief from the slightly cooler weather.

PC Absolon and I are your local Beat Officers. PC Absolon covers the Bradstowe, Beacon and Kingsgate wards, while I cover the Viking and St Peter's ward areas.

Interestingly, the Viking and Bradstowe areas meet along the High Street, meaning that between us we each cover one half of Broadstairs. Although we have our own designated areas, we work closely together and regularly assist each other across the whole town.

One of the main reasons for this change is that it allows us to maintain a police presence in Broadstairs almost every day.

We have already seen some positive results. Recently, PC Absolon and I responded to reports of a homeless person sleeping in the Victorian Gardens, Broadstairs. Following enquiries, we located the individual and were able to provide assistance by putting them in contact with the local homelessness support team. They have since moved on and taken their belongings with them.

We also received a report that a group of young people had set fire to books taken from a community book collection in Pierremont Park. After reviewing CCTV footage, several individuals were identified. PC Absolon and I carried out foot patrols in the park over the following days and subsequently located those involved. They were asked to leave the park, and their parents have been spoken to. The investigation remains ongoing.
