Over the past few weeks we have seen a rise in Theft bicycles on the beat. The offending areas have mainly been outside of the gyms on WALNUT STREET and RAW DYKES ROAD, LEICESTER.

Top tips for protecting Your Bike

We encourage all cyclists to take simple steps to reduce the risk of theft:

✅ Use a good quality Secure approved D-lock.

✅ Lock both the frame and at least one wheel to a secure cycle stand.

✅ Remove valuables when leaving your bike unattended.

✅ Register your bike on a recognized bike database and keep a record of the frame number.

✅ Park in well lit, busy areas covered by CCTV where possible.

Report it to Leicestershire Police as soon as possible via www.leics.police.uk.

Call 101 to report non emergency incidents.

The beat team will continue to monitor cycle thefts across the area, maintain patrols in hot spot locations and work with residents, businesses and partners to prevent further offences and identify those responsible.
