Man sentenced for class A drugs supply - Norwich

A man who supplied heroin in Norwich has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.

George Ward, 49, of Clifton Street, Norwich appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday 4 September after previously admitting to suppling a Class A controlled drug, namely heroin.

His sentence follows an investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Norwich.

On 1 June 2026, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address on Clifton Street after receiving information that Ward was involved in the supply of Class A drugs.

Following entry, Ward was found inside the property along with a woman.

During searches of the address, officers discovered Class A drugs in the kitchen which were openly displayed on a worktop and appeared to be a preparation area.

Officers also recovered over £500 in cash and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Ward was arrested at the property along with the woman in her 20s and they were both taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

During his appearance at Norwich Crown Court, Ward was handed a prison sentence of four years and eight months and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

Ward was also charged with possession of criminal property, which he denied at an earlier hearing and the judge ordered to lie on file.

In connection with the investigation, a 29-year-old woman was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug and possession of criminal property. She appeared in court on 23 July 2026, which concluded with a not guilty verdict.

“We encourage anyone who sees suspicious drug activity in their neighbourhood to report it to us.”
