For information there has been a rise in thefts of power tools and garden equipment from sheds and outbuildings.

Following a recent increase in burglaries and thefts of tools, machinery and garden equipment, we are encouraging residents to take a few simple steps to help protect their property.

✅ Store tools and equipment securely in locked sheds, garages or outbuildings.
✅ Fit good-quality locks, alarms and security lighting where possible.
✅ Mark valuable items with a postcode and photograph them.
✅ Keep a record of serial numbers and register property on a property-marking database.
✅ Avoid leaving tools, bicycles, mowers or other equipment visible in gardens overnight.
✅ Invest in cost effective modern CCTV that sends live notifications to the users phone, to help deter offenders provide evidence.

Farms, schools, sports grounds and large rural premises have recently been targeted.
