South Leicester Police Commanders update

Hi everyone, here's a quick update from the team.

Firstly, following reports of two robberies in the Saffron Lane area on tuesday, our local officers were able to identify a suspect within 14 hours thanks to their local knowledge. 

The investigation is ongoing, but it's a great example of how local policing knowledge helps us achieve results quickly.

We've also had a positive result in relation to shoplifting. We arrested a prolific offender and secured 14 charges against him. He was remanded by the court and is currently in prison.

Last night, we held one of our Local Independent Advisory Group meetings. These meetings are really important as they give us the opportunity to explain what we've been doing, listen to feedback, and ensure we're accountable to the communities we serve.

Today also marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. We'd like to wish everyone celebrating a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Finally, with the new university term just around the corner, we'd like to welcome both new and returning students to Leicester. We hope you have a fantastic year ahead.
