Dear Resident.
You may have noticed police activity along Gartside Street & Delph Lane today (Friday 11/09/26). The purpose of this was to identify drivers committing moving traffic offences, including exceeding the 20mph speed limit through the villages. While the majority of motorists drive responsibly, a small number continue to disregard the limit, posing a significant risk to pedestrians, particularly children walking to school, as well as other road users.
These 2 locations where brought to Police attention at the Police Pop Up Surgery by local residents. We would like to thank residents and visitors for their patience and for the many supportive comments shared with officers throughout the operation. We will continue to monitor traffic at these locations and provide updates to the community as requested.
Your Neighbourhood Team remains committed to keeping the roads across Saddleworth and Lees safe. We encourage you to continue reporting concerns so that future joint operations can focus on the locations and issues that matter most to you.
Regards
