We have recently seen an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour around the Tesco area in Failsworth.

Incidents reported to police include:

• Abusive and unacceptable behaviour towards Tesco staff
• Objects being thrown at passing vehicles
• Large groups of youths congregating and intimidating members of the public
• Causing annoyance and distress to local residents
• Vehicles being driven in an anti-social and dangerous manner in the area

Whilst we recognise that the vast majority of young people are respectful and law-abiding, the behaviour of a small minority is having a significant impact on the local community.

We are asking parents and guardians to speak with their children about their activities, whereabouts and behaviour whilst out with friends. A simple conversation at home can often make a significant difference and help prevent young people from becoming involved in behaviour that could place themselves or others at risk.

Neighbourhood officers will be conducting additional patrols and are working closely with Tesco, local businesses and partner agencies to identify those responsible and take appropriate action where offences are identified.

We want Failsworth to remain a safe and welcoming community for residents, visitors and local businesses alike. If you witness anti-social behaviour or have information regarding those involved, please report it via 101, online, or 999 in an emergency.
