2 Arrested for Shop Theft

🥃 They came for the whiskey, but ended up with porridge. 🚓 

Two out-of-area offenders travelled into Northallerton early this morning, 12th September 2026 and stole a suitcase full of whiskey from a local store.

When officers arrived, the pair attempted a last-minute costume change by shedding items of clothing as they made off. Sadly for them, changing outfits doesn't make you invisible.

Both men were arrested and as well as being arrested for the theft they have now been recalled to prison, where we're confident their opportunities to stockpile whiskey will be significantly reduced for the foreseeable future, meaning their next drinks will be enjoyed at His Majesty's pleasure rather than from a suitcase.

Excellent work by responding officers and another reminder that travelling into North Yorkshire to commit crime rarely ends well.
