Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Team Secure Charges and Remands for Prolific Offenders

The Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to deliver positive results for our communities, with two prolific offenders now arrested, charged and remanded into custody following a significant number of offences across the area.

Over the past two weeks, officers have worked tirelessly alongside local businesses, victims and partner agencies to build strong evidential cases against two individuals responsible for more than 60 offences across Chadderton. These offences included theft from shops, breaches of Criminal Behaviour Orders and robbery.

As a result of proactive policing activity and extensive investigation work, both offenders have now been charged and remanded to court, preventing further offending while criminal proceedings continue.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Tom Layton said:

"We know the impact that persistent shoplifting and associated criminality has on our local businesses, retail staff and wider community. These offences are far from victimless. They cause financial loss, create fear and frustration, and place unnecessary pressure on hardworking members of our community.

The arrest, charge and remand of these two prolific offenders demonstrates our commitment to tackling those who repeatedly target businesses and cause harm across Chadderton.

This outcome is the result of dedicated work by officers who have worked relentlessly to identify offenders, gather evidence and pursue every available opportunity to bring those responsible before the courts.

We hope this sends a clear message that criminality will not be tolerated and that we will continue to take robust action against those who commit offences in our neighbourhoods."
