Beware of Doorstep Sellers and Cold Callers

Staffordshire Police Community Update

We have received reports of doorstep sellers and cold callers operating within local communities. While some callers may be legitimate, others may use high-pressure sales tactics or seek to take advantage of vulnerable residents.

Please remember:

You are under no obligation to answer the door to unexpected callers.

Do not feel pressured into making a purchase or signing any agreement on your doorstep.

Ask to see identification and take time to verify who they are.

Never hand over cash, bank details or personal information to uninvited callers.

If in doubt, do not open the door and speak through a closed door, window or doorbell camera if available.

Contact a trusted family member, friend or neighbour if you feel unsure.

Report any suspicious behaviour to Staffordshire Police.

If you believe a crime is taking place or someone is attempting to scam or intimidate you, report it via 101 or online at www.staffordshire.police.uk. In an emergency, always call 999.

Please look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be more susceptible to rogue traders and doorstep scams.
