ROGUE TRADERS ARE OPERATING IN YOUR LOCAL AREA |
||
|
We are urging residents to remain vigilant following a recent report involving suspected rogue traders at an address on Arch Street, Rugeley.
Rogue traders often target residents by knocking on doors and offering to carry out work such as roofing, driveway repairs, gardening, or other maintenance that has not been requested. They may claim work is urgently needed, pressure you into making quick decisions, or demand payment upfront.
Our advice:
✅ Only deal with traders you have contacted yourself or have arranged an appointment with. ✅ Always check identification and verify that any business is legitimate. ✅ Obtain multiple quotes before agreeing to any work. ✅ Never feel pressured into making an immediate decision. ✅ Do not hand over cash or bank details to unexpected callers. ✅ If you are not interested, simply say "No thank you" and close the door.
If a trader refuses to leave when asked, or you feel threatened, intimidated, or at immediate risk, call 999 straight away.
Please also look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may be targeted by rogue traders and share this advice with family and friends.
If you have concerns about suspicious callers in your area, report them to Staffordshire Police via 101, online, or by calling 999 in an emergency.
Remember: It's your home, your choice. Don't be afraid to say no and shut the door.
