I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear Residents,
We are contacting you following a recent increase in reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the local area.
We would like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help prevent becoming a victim: - Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for a short period. - Check all windows and doors are fully closed and locked before walking away / leaving your vehicle. - Do not leave valuables or belongings on display, including bags, coats, shopping of electronic devices. - Where possible, park in well-lit and secure locations. - Please take a moment to check your vehicle is locked before leaving it unattended, as some offenders may target vehicles that have been left secured.
While these measures cannot guarantee that a vehicle will not be targeted, they can significantly reduce the opportunity for opportunist thieves.
If you witness any suspicious activity or see someone acting suspiciously around vehicles, please report it to the police. In an emergency or where a crime is in progress, call 999. For non-emergency reports, please use 101 or report to the ELY NPT TEAM via South Wales Listens.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us to keep the local community safe.
Kind Regards Kyle Paylor PCSO / ELY South Wales Police / NPT
