Ospreys In The Community Event at The Phoenix Centre

As part of the South Wales Listens initiative, local neighbourhood officers are continuing to engage with residents and partners in the Townhill community to understand the issues that matter most to local people and identify opportunities to support young people in the area.

During recent engagement, residents highlighted the importance of providing positive activities for children and young people, particularly during school holidays. In response, South Wales Police is pleased to promote the Ospreys in the Community WRU Fit, Fed and Fun Camp, taking place at the Townhill Phoenix Centre on 29 October 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The free camp is open to children aged 6 to 11 years (school years 2 to 6) and offers a fun and active day of rugby-based activities, games, skills development and healthy food provision. Delivered by qualified coaches from Ospreys in the Community, the programme aims to encourage physical activity, teamwork, confidence building and positive wellbeing in a safe and inclusive environment.

We encourage parents, guardians and carers to take advantage of this fantastic free opportunity for local children to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy a healthy meal during the school holidays.

South Wales Police remains committed to working alongside community partners to support young people, reduce anti-social behaviour and strengthen community wellbeing across Townhill.

I would personally like to thank the Townhill Phoenix Centre for kindly providing the facilities and supporting the delivery of this event. I would also like to thank Ospreys in the Community (OITC) for working alongside me to help bring this opportunity to the children and families of Townhill. This was the first event of its kind that I have helped organise in the area, and I hope it will be the first of many more positive community events that we can deliver together in the future. Community partnership work such as this plays a vital role in creating opportunities for young people and strengthening relationships within our neighbourhoods.
