Dear Resident
Your local neighbourhood policing team have been made aware of issues concerning speeding and the use of illegal E bikes and off road motorbikes around the Lower Burgh Way area of Chorley.
Good News!!! Local Task Force Officers spent some time this morning in the area and stopped three drivers, two were given words of advice and one driver was issued a ticket for excess speed. A reminder to local residents that Lower Burgh Way is a 30 miles per hour road.
Whilst conducting speed enforcement in the area the officer witnessed a young person riding a mountain bike with excessive speed. The rider and mountain bike were located nearby, where it was discovered that it had been converted into an E bike, making it into a mechanically propelled vehicle and subsequently this was seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act due to having no insurance.
The officer was then made aware of a vehicle that had been abandoned at a bus stop on Lower Burgh Road and had been there for some time and this was also seized.
