News Update Regarding Police Response to E-Scooters in Reculver

On Thursday 17 September at 7:43pm, the local Beat Officer and police colleagues stopped a group of youths in the Hillborough Estate in Reculver following reports of youths riding e-scooters dangerously in the area whilst wearing balaclavas.

During the stop on Puffin Road, three youths were found to be riding e-scooters and wearing face coverings. As a result, all three e-scooters have now been removed from use and taken off the road.

This action follows numerous reports received over the past two weeks regarding youths riding e-scooters in a dangerous and anti-social manner within Reculver and the surrounding Hillborough Estate.

This serves as a reminder that privately owned e-scooters are not road legal and cannot be used on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, public parks, or other public places. Privately owned e-scooters may only be used on private land with the permission of the landowner. Riders found using them illegally in public may be liable to enforcement action, including seizure of the vehicle, fines, and penalty points.
