Monthly Community Update from Sgt Powell – September 2026

Hello All,

I hope this message finds you well. As we move through September, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.

🔍 Local Priorities

Our current focus areas include:

Anti-Social Behaviour – This includes individuals who are involved in public space alcohol consumption, drug use, aggressive begging and the dangerous use of illegal E Bikes.

Reduce Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Hillfields – St Michaels are identifying VAWG Hotspots to show location / time / offences being committed. In doing this it has allowed officers to target prolific perpertrators and applying for appropriate interventions both Police and Court applications.

St Michaels have been completing reassurance patrols in these areas utilizing Op Vigilant and partnership working to prevent offending, increase feelings of safety, and improve victim confidence in reporting.

We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise.

🤝 Partnership Working

We’ve been working closely with:

Citizen Housing / Stonewater and Orbi Housing to tackle ASB-Tenancy related issues within Hillfields.

Coventry City Council – problem solving environmental issues and parking issues in Hillfields.

These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Community Involvement

Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in:

Street Watch – In September we have seen serveral joint patrols with the team, this has allowed opportunity to identify issues with residents and problem solve with partners.

PACT & The Hillfields Resident Meeting – This has given the opportunity for residents to come and speak with the team directly, sharing information and supporting yourselves in partnership with Local Authority and Housing colleagues.

Cuppa with Coppa – Sunday 27th September 1100hrs at Ravidass Temple, Coventry.

Hillfields Resident Meeting - Monday 26th October 1800hrs at Thomas King House.

Cuppa with Coppa - Tuesday 27th October 1600hrs at St Peters Church, Coventry

PACT Meeting - Tuesday 27th October 1700hrs at Thomas King House, Coventry

🗞️ Round-Up from All Wards

Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch:

Hillfields Neighbourhood Team – Have completed Eighteen Arrests in September so far, these have ranged from Burglary, Theft of Pedal Cycle, Disq Drive, Theft of Pedal Cycle and Possession of Offensive weapon.

Hillfields Neighbourhood Team affected the arrest of an individual who was identified as causing damage to several businesses in the area which led to a Charge and Remand to court.

Hillfields Neighbourhood – have issued both Community Protection Warnings and Notices to individuals who have been causing Anti Social behaviour to residents / businesses in Hillfields.

Hillfields Neighbourhood – have been out speaking with businesses on Harnall Lane east completing reassurance patrols and putting measures in place around problem solving issues which have been raised.
