Wigston Neighbourhood Policing Update

Your local neighbourhood officers have been out and about across Wigston carrying out proactive patrols, supporting partner agencies, and addressing issues that matter to our community.

During the week, officers assisted both EMAS and response officers following an incident involving a male who had been unseated from his bicycle, ensuring he received the appropriate assistance and care.

Officers have continued to tackle retail crime, identifying suspects linked to shop theft offences and progressing investigations. House-to-house enquiries and CCTV trawls have also been conducted to gather evidence and support ongoing investigations.

Patrols have included engagement with local young people, as well as positive action to address anti-social behaviour involving riders of e-bikes and pedal cycles causing nuisance within the area.

Road safety remains a key priority, with officers carrying out vehicle checks to ensure vehicles being driven on our roads are safe, legal, and roadworthy.

Officers also provided support to a vulnerable resident by offering crime prevention advice and guidance regarding CCTV cameras to help improve security and provide reassurance.

Partnership working continues to play an important role in keeping Wigston safe. Officers met with the local council to discuss and progress an ongoing community issue, working together to identify solutions and improve the local area. Officers have also liaised with local schools regarding safeguarding matters, helping to ensure the welfare and safety of young people within our community.

Alongside this work, numerous high-visibility foot patrols have been conducted throughout Wigston, providing reassurance to residents, engaging with local businesses, gathering community intelligence, and addressing concerns raised by members of the public.
