Update from the Community Policing Team
On Sunday 20th September at approximately 4:20pm, PC Fall from the Community Policing Team in Eye was returning from a deployment elsewhere in Suffolk, when he spotted an off-road scrambler bike being ridden at speed along Mill Street, Gislingham.
Upon seeing the police vehicle, the rider immediately rode away from the area. After conducting a search, PC Fall quickly located the bike abandoned at the roadside next to a public footpath. Members of the public reported that the rider had run off towards a nearby play park, but the rider was not located.
The motorcycle had no registration plate, lights, indicators or speedometer and is not legal for use on public roads. It appeared to be intended for off-road use only.
While the rider was not identified and located at the time of the incident, the seizure of the bike has prevented it from being used illegally and helped reduce the risk to other road users and members of the public.
