Community Engagement at Long Whatton Primary School

Dear Members,

Yesterday, I visited Long Whatton Primary School alongside the Children and Young Persons Officer to deliver an informative session on the role of the police, how we support and protect our communities, and the various ways in which we work to keep people safe.

During the visit, pupils learned about when and how to contact the police, including the distinction between calling 999 in an emergency and 101 for non-emergency matters. The pupils were attentive and engaged throughout, demonstrating a keen interest in policing and the services we provide.

As part of the session, pupils were given the opportunity to explore a police vehicle and learn about some of the equipment officers use while carrying out their duties. This proved to be a particularly popular aspect of the visit.

We would like to thank the staff and pupils at Long Whatton Primary School for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation. It was an excellent opportunity to engage with young people and help develop their understanding of policing and community safety.
