Coop Cranbrook Operation

Following several reports of shoplifting at the CO-OP, Cranbrook, myself and PC Brazier conducted a plain clothes operation within the store with the aim of identifying and apprehending prolific offenders responsible for thefts.

As a result of the operation, four individuals were detained and subsequently dealt with appropriately for offences identified during the deployment. The operation provided a positive enforcement response to concerns raised by the business and demonstrated police commitment to tackling retail crime within the town.

Safeguarding/Community Impact

By identifying and dealing with offenders responsible for repeat thefts, this operation helped protect members of the public who use the store and reduced the risk of further offending within the community. The action taken provided reassurance to local residents and shoppers, helped create a safer environment for customers, and reinforced confidence that reports of retail crime are being acted upon. Continued engagement with the store will support the early identification of further issues and opportunities to prevent crime.
