Follow up to the barn fire in Cabus

Dear Resident,

Following up from the email we sent to you last night about the barn fire in Cabus, we are providing you with a further update this morning.

Three fire engines remain at the scene of a large outbuilding fire at a farm on Snapewood Lane, Cabus.

The fire, which involved a barn containing a significant quantity of hay and straw, was brought under control overnight. Crews have worked throughout the night alongside farm staff, who have been using telehandlers to remove affected hay from the building so that firefighters can continue extinguishing remaining hotspots.

All affected hay has now been removed from the barn and firefighting operations are focused on damping down. Firefighters are currently using two ground monitors and a jet to tackle remaining pockets of fire.

Road closures remain in place in the area and members of the public are asked to continue avoiding the scene while operations are ongoing.

Fire crews are expected to remain in attendance for some time while extinguishing work continues and the scene is made safe. We would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation.
