Man sentenced for running ‘Mitch’ drugs line - Norwich

A man who supplied crack cocaine and heroin in Norwich through the 'Mitch' drugs line has been sentenced to prison.

Calvin Garwe, 25, of The Ridings, Poringland appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday 23 September after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

The charges followed an investigation into the supply of crack cocaine and heroin between 1 July 2025 and 15 October 2025.

Enquiries led officers to obtain extensive communications linked to the drugs line and Garwe.

Bulk messages were sent to multiple recipients advertising drugs available through the line, including messages such as: 'ON 2 FOR 35 3 FOR 50 MITCH'.

Officers established that Garwe's personal mobile phone was in the same locations as the Mitch drugs line on a number of occasions.

Officers also obtained CCTV footage showing Garwe in the area when a top-up was purchased for the drugs line. Shortly afterwards, a bulk message was sent from the line stating: 'ON ALL OVER PAY DAY HOURS'.

Garwe was arrested on 15 October 2025 and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, before subsequently being charged.

During his appearance at Norwich Crown Court, Garwe was handed a prison sentence of 35 months and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

Investigating officer, PC Phil Mercer from the Norwich Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Garwe chose to profit from the supply of crack cocaine and heroin within Norwich, and we welcome the sentence handed down by the court.

"We know residents are concerned about the impact of drugs in their neighbourhoods, and we will continue to act on information received, carry out proactive investigations, and pursue those who seek to profit from causing harm to others."
