West Midlands Police (WMP)

strictly enforces laws against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs through continuous roadside operations, multi-agency checks, and public awareness campaigns.

The Legal Drink Driving Limits

In England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the strict legal limits for motorists are:

Breath: 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres

Blood: 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres

Urine: 107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres

Penalties for Offending

If caught driving or attempting to drive while over the limit or failing to provide a specimen without a reasonable excuse, you face severe prosecution. The magistrates' court can issue:

An automatic driving ban of at least 1 year (or 3 years if convicted twice within 10 years)

An unlimited fine

Up to six months in prison

A permanent criminal record

An endorsement on your driving licence valid for 11 years

How to Report
