Morning all.

We've been a bit sparse online with this platform due to training, holiday and more, but consider this a bit of a reboot of sorts. Here are a couple of stories that you might appreciate.

The Honest Suspect.

Recently in John Innes Park, we were patrolling in the later hours, torches sweeping around a nice quiet park until PCSO Maria says;

“Let's check the path between the parks…”

As both were suffering with colds, PCSO Maria and PC James casually mentioned that they couldn't smell cannabis as well as normal, but the unafflicted PCSO Dave got a whiff… Around the corner was a male who initially tried to tell us that there was no smell, no drugs and all was good. Pull the other one, it goes ding dong, we thought. A search was initiated and an admission quickly followed.

“Ok… I might have some hash on me…”

Thanking him for his honesty and confession, the search continued.

“Ok, Ok, I might have some class A on me…”

And off to custody we went, having a lovely conversation about the capitals of the world.

Day two, Arrest two.

After a late off due to Mr Honest, we awoke the next day to news that a know person to us was wanted, and using our local knowledge travelled to a local park where he oft frequents. And frequent he did.

Two days, and two arrests for us was a couple of good results, we thought!

Now onto some updates.

Ward panel meetings.

We attend residential ward panel meetings on all three wards, Ravensbury, St Helier, and Merton Park. These are held four times a year and to be honest, (apart from Merton Park), are a bit poorly attended. We love hearing what the residents want and need of us, and it's here that we set the ward priorites. If you want to have your say, keep an eye out here for when the next one is.

The priorities are guidelines for us, because obviously we'll target all crimes!

We've got lots of events coming up, including the White Ribbon campaign in conjunction with the local council, alongside hate crime tables at the tube station, and even a run for women to discuss safety in our borough.
