Another Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) has been issued by magistrates as community police officers in Haverhill are clamping down on street drinking and related anti-social behaviour.
The latest CBO was handed to 35-year-old Kellie Ivy Daw, who now lives temporarily in Brandon, and prevents her from begging or drinking in public in Haverhill town centre.
The order, which lasts for two years, was given by Ipswich Magistrates on 28 September and is the fourth CBO handed out in the town. Another three cases are going through the courts.
Pc Jack Oakley, of the Haverhill Community Policing team, said: “We are continuing to take firm action as we receive a high number of complaints about ASB in the town centre.
“We have worked hard with our partner agencies to try to help meet the social and housing needs of members of the street drinking community and I want to stress this not only about enforcement but these cases involve persistent, disruptive begging that often end up with other offences being committed.
“Some of the complaints we received from the public were about begging from elderly veterans on Armistice Day last year. While we try to help all members of the community we are determined to support the public and businesses and show them that we will take action against anti-social behaviour.”
