A Message to Barnet's Jewish Community |

Good evening, please see the below message from Supt Tanya Lloyd
A Message to Barnet's Jewish Community I am writing to you as the Superintendent responsible for Neighbourhood Policing in Barnet. Over the past few weeks, we have been stepping up patrols and maintaining a policing plan to support and reassure our communities throughout the High Holy Days. While these occasions have now passed, thankfully without any significant incidents in Barnet, I know there have been events across the UK and the wider world that continue to cause concern and upset within the Jewish community. Most notably, many of you will have seen reports that two men have been charged with terrorism offences following a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into an alleged plot targeting the Jewish community in Manchester. While we understand this investigation relates to Manchester, and there is no information to suggest any ongoing threat to our communities in Barnet, I recognise that news of this nature can nevertheless be concerning. As always, we would encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to report anything that causes concern. Although the High Holy Days are drawing to a close, our commitment to keeping you safe does not end here. My officers have told me that many of you have taken the time to speak with them over recent weeks, sharing both your concerns and your thanks. We greatly value those conversations and will continue to maintain a visible presence across Barnet, tackling crime, arresting those who break the law and working alongside key community partners, including local faith leaders, Shomrim and the Community Security Trust. Our dedicated Community Protection Team in North West London provides additional support alongside neighbourhood officers and plays an important role in tackling antisemitic hate crime and supporting affected communities. They remain acutely aware of the concerns being felt by many and will continue to work closely with and for the Jewish community. I have briefed all of my officers on the concerns being raised by members of the Jewish community, and they stand ready to assist. Please do not hesitate to approach them with any issues, concerns or information you would like to share. Finally, I would like to thank you for the trust, support and partnership you continue to show us. By working together, we can continue to ensure that Barnet remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
