With darker evenings approaching, now is a good time to review your home security and reduce the risk of becoming a victim of burglary. Simple steps can make a big difference: Always lock doors and windows when leaving the your home, even its only for a short time. Keep keys, car keys and valuables out of sight and away from doors, letterboxes and windows. Use timer switches on lights to make your home appear occupied when you are out. Ensure side gates, sheds and garages are secured with good quality locks. Avoid advertising holidays or days away on social media until after you have returned. Consider installing CCTV, video doorbells or security lighting to deter offenders. Record serial numbers and photograph valuable items to assist police if property is stolen. Keep hedges and fences maintained to remove hiding places while ensuring windows and doors remain visible from the street. Ask a trysted neighbour, friend or relative to keep an eye on your property when you are aware.
If you see suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, report it to Greater Manchester Police. In an emergency, always call 999.
Working together, we can help keep our communities safe and reduce opportunities for offenders. #CrimePrevention #ProtectyourHome
