New Ward Priorities in Blackheath Westcombe Ward At the recent Ward Panel meeting, residents, councillors and local policing representatives came together to discuss the issues having the greatest impact on our neighbourhood. Following those discussions, three key priorities have been agreed for the coming months: Motor Vehicle Crime Burglary Parcel Theft These priorities reflect the concerns raised by residents and the crimes that are causing the most worry within our community. By focusing our efforts on these areas, the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working closely with residents, partners and local businesses to reduce offending, increase confidence and make our streets safer for everyone. Tackling Motor Vehicle Crime Motor vehicle crime remains a significant concern, with criminals targeting vehicles for theft, theft from motor vehicles and keyless vehicle crime. Opportunist offenders often look for easy targets, taking advantage of unattended valuables left on display or insecure vehicles. Residents can help protect their vehicles by: Every report helps us build intelligence and identify offenders operating in the area. Preventing Burglary A burglary can have a devastating effect on victims, impacting not only property but also the sense of security within their own home. The team is committed to working with residents to reduce opportunities for burglars and provide crime prevention advice. Simple measures can make a big difference: We encourage residents to remain vigilant and to share information with local officers when they notice anything unusual. Protecting Deliveries from Parcel Theft With more people shopping online than ever before, parcel theft has become an increasing concern across many communities. Criminals often target unattended packages left on doorsteps or communal entrances. To reduce the risk: A few simple precautions can help prevent disappointment and financial loss. Working Together The Ward Panel priorities are shaped by the community and reflect the issues that matter most to local residents. The Safer Neighbourhood Team will be carrying out targeted patrols, engagement events, crime prevention initiatives and partnership work to address these concerns over the coming months. We can all play a part in making our neighbourhood safer. By reporting crime, sharing information and following crime prevention advice, residents can help us tackle motor vehicle crime, burglary and parcel theft together. If you would like to speak with your local officers, receive crime prevention advice or discuss concerns in your area, please come along to one of our future street briefings and community events. Together, we can reduce crime, protect our community and make our neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
Many Thanks
