On Friday 2nd October, Pyle Neighbourhood Policing team along with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the DVSA carried out a Road Safety initiative ‘Op Atal’ on Marshfield Avenue in Pyle. This is a joint road safety initiative to target driving offenses and educate motorists. Any persons monitored driving without a seat belt were stopped by the police and given the option of immediately attending an educational session with the Fire and Rescue services or accepting a fixed penalty. Teams also worked together with the DVSA to conduct vehicle safety checks and observe any vehicles contravening the weight limit.
Out of 323 vehicles observed between 09.45hrs and 12.15hrs: 24 drivers stopped a for not wearing a seatbelt. 2 x Traffic Offence Reports issued for defective tyres 1 x vehicle seized for no tax
Initiatives such as Operation Atal are important because they focus on prevention, helping people recognise risks before tragedy occurs. | ||
