A New Arrival and a Busy Day for the Gardens Team

A New Arrival and a Busy Day for the Gardens Team

There are easier ways to spend your first shift with a new team.

For PC Crowson, however, her first day with the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team began with a welcome to the team — and ended with a firearms-related arrest.

PC Crowson has joined the team from the Domestic Abuse Team, bringing valuable investigative experience with her, and she certainly wasted no time getting stuck into neighbourhood policing.

The day began with PC Zamecnik locating and arresting a male adult who had been wanted after being recalled to prison several weeks ago.

Not long afterwards, PC Cross continued the team’s work in targeting priority offenders, arresting another male adult who had also been recalled to prison.

Then came PC Crowson’s introduction to Piccadilly Gardens.

Following enquiries, Crowson arrested a male adult who was wanted in connection with firearms offences — an impressive way to mark her first shift in the team.

And the story didn’t quite end there.

PC Zamecnik subsequently located a co-accused, who was also arrested on suspicion of the same firearms offence.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt said:

“A huge welcome to PC Crowson on her first shift with the Piccadilly Gardens team. I think it’s fair to say she’s made quite the impression already.

“Moving from the Divisional Investigation Team into neighbourhood policing is a change of pace, but today demonstrated exactly why having officers with strong investigative experience within the team is so valuable.

“Alongside PC Crowson’s arrest, PC Zamecnik and PC Cross have once again shown the importance of proactively targeting wanted and priority offenders.

“It was a really positive start to the week and, most importantly, a great introduction to what the Piccadilly Gardens team is all about — being visible, proactive and taking action against those who cause the greatest harm in our community.”

For PC Crowson, it was quite some introduction.

For the rest of the team, it was another day of putting proactive policing into practice in the heart of Manchester.

Welcome to Piccadilly Gardens, PC Crowson. You picked a good day to start.
