Let’s Keep Brixton Safe This Firework Season

Let’s Keep Brixton Safe This Firework Season

Dear Brixton Acre Lane Residents and Community Members,

As we head into the autumn and winter months, we're asking for your support in helping to keep Brixton safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Each year, from September onwards, we see an increase in incidents involving fireworks being used irresponsibly in public places. While fireworks can be a great way to celebrate, when misused they can cause serious injuries, damage property, frighten residents and pets, and put road users at risk.

Please remember:

It is illegal for anyone under 18 to buy or possess most types of fireworks.

Setting off fireworks in a public place is against the law.

Police officers have powers to stop and search anyone suspected of carrying or misusing fireworks.

Parents, carers and guardians can play an important role by speaking with young people about the risks associated with fireworks and the impact irresponsible behaviour can have on others in the community. By working together, we can help prevent injuries, reduce antisocial behaviour, and ensure everyone can enjoy the season safely. If you have information about the illegal sale or misuse of fireworks,

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Together, we can help make Brixton a safer, stronger and more welcoming place for everyone.

If you have any information about the sale or misuse of fireworks in your area, please contact police via:

Calling 101 for non-emergency incidents or information.

Calling 999 if a crime is taking place, someone is in immediate danger, or there is a risk to life.

Speaking with your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

Yours sincerely,

Brixton Acre Lane SNT
