Here’s an update on burglary locally. Dear Barnes Residents,
Please be aware of suspicious behaviour.
A local resident to St Edmunds Square SW13 stopped and challenged a male on the late evening of the 05/10/2026. The male appeared to be trying to hide himself in the trees, he was flying a drone over the local area paying particular attention to houses. On being challenged the male claimed that he was viewing a property that was up for sale. At the present time this can't be confirmed, but due to the time of night i find this very suspicious. The male was requested to delete his recordings, but this was refused.
The male was described as a White Male, aged about 40years. He was about 5'11" tall and of medium build. He had black hair, black and grey beard. He was dressed in a black puffer jacket and black trousers.
There is a strong possibility that this males intentions were not good, and that he was scoping out the area with the intention of committing crime.
I will request night duty response units to pay attention to the area when not responding to calls. Can i ask all residents to make sure that you lock your doors and windows. If you have alarms, please use them and set them. Most modern alarms have the capability of being able to set the ground floor of properties as active if you are home.
Please don't leave keys on show, especially car keys. If your car has keyless entry put your car keys into faraday bags so that signals can't be obtained. If you do not have a faraday bag, these can be obtained from online sites or car maintenance shops and are inexpensive.
Can i reassure you all that you do live in one of the safest boroughs in London and i am only sending this message as a precaution ands it is my intention for Barnes to stay one of the safest areas.
If anyone would like an officer to come and see them regarding crime prevention and home and car security please make us aware and this can be arranged.
