Monthly Community Update from Sgt Townill – October 2026

Dear resident’s

Hope you are all well and having a good week.

Here’s a quick roundup from your local policing team of some of the work we have been doing over the last month across Blakenall, Leamore, Birchills and Beechdale.

Our PC’s have made at least 17 arrests over the last month, along with several stop and searches.

These arrests have included but not limited to shop thefts, possession of a bladed article and possession of class A.

The team have continued to patrol and link in with businesses in Reedswood Retail Park, this has included several local teens being escorted home after being found with alcohol by the team PCSOs.

Patrols have been conducted in the Dartmouth Avenue area of Coalpool by the team, this has been in response to ongoing harassment by as of yet unknown person/s towards the Lucky Garden takeaway, this behavior is unacceptable, the team are currently still looking into the IDs of those involved, we urge anyone with information to contact 101 quoting 20/417831/26.

A stolen vehicle was located and seized by the team following a report from an eagle-eyed member of the community in the Lister Road/Stephenson Ave area of Beechdale. The car had been taken from the West Mercia area in a car key burglary.

Targeted patrols in the locations of Hadley Way, Beechdale, Green St, Birchills and Whitehouse Street Birchills, due to concerns relating to drug dealing & cannabis related ASB.

Essex St and the surround area have been patrolled due to reports and concerns regarding off road bikes/ motorbikes being ridden at speed and with out due care and attention- should anyone have any footage etc then reports can be made directly to Operation Snap | West Midlands Police

PCSO Marica has attended St Patrick’s Catholic Primary school Walsall – for working in the community engagement along with PC LAM from our local CID department.

A big thank you to all who attended our latest PACT meeting at St Chads, Edison Rd, Beechdale! PACT meetings are a great way of discussing the issues that matter to you! (25/09/26)

With the nights now getting darker we urge residents to take extra care –

The team will be linking in with local business over the next few weeks regarding the sale of fireworks in the run up to bonfire night.
