Fireworks Reminder for Wardleworth |
||
|
Officers are continuing to engage with young people, residents and families across Wardleworth regarding the safe and responsible use of fireworks. We have received reports of fireworks being set off late at night, in streets and alleyways, and in some cases being directed towards people, vehicles and properties.
Fireworks can cause serious injuries, start fires and create significant fear and distress within our communities. They can be particularly frightening for elderly residents, young children, pets and vulnerable individuals. Even a moment of reckless behaviour can have lasting consequences.
We are carrying out patrols and paying particular attention to hotspot areas, including around Hynes Street, Ball Street and surrounding streets. Offences could result in fines, seizure of fireworks, criminal investigations and prosecution.
We would also remind residents that it is illegal for anyone under 18 to possess fireworks in a public place, and fireworks must not be set off between 11pm and 7am except on certain permitted dates.
