Lincolnshire Police ran Operation Excess over 2 days in October 2026 to crackdown on traffic offences. Officers were based on the A16 between Boston and Spalding on Friday 2nd October and the A1 at Gonerby Moor near Grantham on Saturday 3rd October to target dangerous vehicles on our roads. During the two-day period 52 vehicles were stopped. 2 drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug driving. A 28-year-old man and a 33-year-old man have been released under investigation pending further inquiries. Motorists were also stopped for offences including having no licence, no insurance, no MOT or vehicle tax, defective tyres and dangerous loads. Other offences included using mobile phones at the wheel, speeding and not using seatbelts. Inspector Jason Baxter from our Roads Policing Unit said: “Our officers continue to work with colleagues from the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency to target and tackle those drivers who choose to drive vehicles that are in a dangerous condition or driven by those under the influence of drink or drugs, with no insurance or licence, or committing offences that increase the risk to all of those who use the roads in a safe and considerate manner in our county. "These operations take place at different locations around Lincolnshire at different times. I am sure the vast majority of our road users support us targeting and dealing positively with those who cause a danger to us all.” | ||
