Notice for residents of the Tyburn area

We just wanted to let residents know about a national scam that seems to have reached the Tyburn area whereby elderly people are being contacted and asked to purchase a large amount of Apple gift cards. Local shops are reporting selling a large amount of Apple Gift Cards (cards that can be used to purchase Apple products) to elderly persons. The cards can be purchased from various outlets and cost £100 each, resulting in very expensive spends. Steam cards (gaming/software cards) are another card that elderly persons are purchasing in large numbers. When shops ask the elderly persons if anybody is asking them to buy them they are saying that they are for their grandchildren.

Can we ask that residents check with elderly and vulnerable relatives that they are not being contacted or asked to purchase these cards for anyone that they do not know. Fraudsters are unfortunately very convincing at obtaining money by targeting very vulnerable persons out of very large amounts of money.
