I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Knife Crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. This week, the local knife surrender bin based outside Waterfoot Police Station was emptied, helping to ensure unwanted knives and bladed items are disposed of safely rather than ending up in the wrong hands. Lancashire Constabulary work together with the 42 other forces in the country, targeting knife crime from the root cause right through to enforcement. It is a week-long initiative, known as Operation Sceptre tackles knife crime, providing a safe place for people to surrender knives anonymously. Operation Grip delivers a combination of knife crime education, community engagement and enforcement activity. Working alongside local policing teams, hotspot areas are identified across Lancashire based on recorded homicide, rape and violence with injury. These became the focus for increased policing activity on a randomised patrol schedule. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.lancashire.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online webpage Home - Lancashire Constabulary - Report Online or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
