Distraction Burglary

Distraction Burglary

Dear member

We have recieved a few reports of a male knocking on doors reporting to be from the city council. He is telling occupants that he is looking to see if there is any mould in their property. He asks to look at a passport or driving licence or other ID .

He tells them if there is any mould then the council will fix it and the occupantwill be paid

The council has been contacted and they have not sent anybody out to knock on doors regarding mould.

Thankfully nothing was taken in these incidents and nobody was injured

If anybody knocks on your door reporting to be from the council or any other company and you are not expecting them dont let them in. Check their ID  if they have any, contact the relevant company to verify and contact the police.

Legitimat persons will have no issues in you checking they are who they say they are.

Be extra vigilant if there is more than one person.

These are tactics used to distact the occupant and steal items.

Stay safe and be vigilant .

If you have any concerns please dont hesistate to contac me
